October Highlights
Alongside getting ready for all the exciting things to come in November (see 'Coming up'), we have been busy with experiments and sample processing!
An experiment in pink
Grace, our integrated MSc student, has hit the ground running since returning from her placement year. Her experiment looking at the impacts of disturbance on bioturbation by the benthic worm species Hediste diversicolor is well on its way!

Processing plastics from Pakistan
Asif, one of our PhD students, has been extracting microplastics from sediment samples he took in Pakistan.
He aims to learn more about microplastic pollution as a potential stressor in the freshwater ecosystems inhabited by the Indus River dolphin, and how it might impact these endangered mammals.

Microplastics are just the beginning, Asif will be moving on to metals and other anthropogenic threats soon!
Coming up...
November will be a busy month for our team, with travels, cruises (for science, not leisure!), and conferences.
MASTS ASM
Michael, Tamara, and Asif will all be at the MASTS ASM in Glasgow, and they're all on the programme! Tamara is leading a workshop, and Michael and Asif will be giving talks. Read more about the work they will be presenting and/or discussing here.
Team Travels
Dr. Hope is heading to Australia this month, and Lauren will be taking part in a cruise! Stay tuned to hear about their travels...
